DD gets all the credit

Every time someone mentions how good she is or how she never cries or how amazing it is that she goes on the potty- it always comes with the warning- "you know, your next baby won't be like this!"

Now I know she's a good-natured baby, but really? Maybe some of those "crazy" things I do have some impact? Like, she didn't just put herself on a potty! No one ever says- "wow, wearing her must keep her really happy."

I'm not upset about this- it's more amusing to me than anything. or maybe my next child will be a hellion and I'll have to eat my words.

  • hahaha Awww.. Yeah, my extended family are all CIOers and they tell my sister that she'd do it too if her baby cried as much, and that she's "just lucky". Then they of course say she spoils him because she holds him and sleeps with him. My poor sister.. she gets so pissed. I'm glad I moved away!

  • Dh and I always say we are screwed with the next one because DS is so happy and easy going.  Then we talk about parenting and say we sincerely hope that at least plays a part in it!
  • We're pretty AP, and while I think it matters for EVERY baby, the outcome with every baby is not the same. I've bedshared or coslept with J from the day she was born, worn her constantly, nurse on demand, etc, and she's been a fussy, discontent baby from day 1. Dr. Sears calls it "high needs," which describes her to a T. So I just try to remind myself what she might be like if I kept putting her down or leaving her in a crib ... high needs might translate into something much worse. Plus, I just enjoy sleeping with her and wearing her. :)

  • We here this a lot too because DD is so social and so happy, minus the major meltdown this weekend. Even today she is super sick and she's still smiling. I think it a combo of personality and parenting. She's a lot like DH so if #2 is a lot like me we can expect a less outgoing more introverted, but hopefully as happy, lo in the future.
