Cloth Diapering

Flip users....

When baby has a poopy diaper, does it usually get on the cover?   If not, how are you preventing it.   I just started trying out our new flips and of course, Natalie's first change was a poopy one.....it's all over the cover.

Re: Flip users....

  • MOST of the time, for us, it does.  :(  I DO use flushable liners and those help, but if there's enough in there it squishes to the side and ends up on the edge of the cover.  The liners are great though, I highy suggest them if you haven't tried them!

  • Yeah, big poops usually necessitate a cover change. Smaller poops (of my baby's age) have a much better chance of being confined to the insert.
  • Yep, poops get on the cover easily. One of the reasons I didn't care for my Flips. Defeats the purpose of an AI2 system. :-/

  • Julia pooped thre times in her flip diapers today and we didn't have any get on the cover. It must depend on the poo...

  • Poop rarely gets on our cover.  It does happen if it is particularly big and messy or if DS sat in it a bit longer than normal (i.e., car trip).  I'm really not sure what you can do to avoid it, as I think as a pp mentioned it depends on the poop.

  • I think it really depends...  When DS is teething his poopy dipes are more runny, (sorry  if TMI), and it can definitely get on the cover.  Other times when he's not teething the poop is more solid.

I use a flushable liner in my dipes and that prevents most of the poop from going on the cover.  These ones  are really good if you're looking to buy some.

Sun is the best bleacher, so if the poop does stain your covers lie them in the sun for a day or so and you should be ok.  Same goes for staining on prefolds (if you're using them).
