Just wondering if anyone gives their toddler V8 juice. Eli is on a veggie strike and I was thinking about giving him some V8. He will also eat a gerber veggie once in a while.
Sure! Why not? Smoothies are always a great way to sneak things in too!

Cal has had sips of V8 and loved it. I'd only give him the low-sodium version, though. I think the regular one is pretty high in sodium. I'd rather have him eat actual veggies (which he does), so for us V8 would be a last resort.
Here are some good tips Dr. Sears gives on getting nutrients into kids:
Dice raw leafy vegetables, greens into spaghetti sauce ? try the tough ones like spinach and kale
Add Omega-3 oils to foods such as pasta sauces, salad dressings, soups
Use whole grain pasta noodles. Soy pasta is good too for protein and for other health reasons
To get more protein ? add protein powder to hot and cold cereals, smoothies, juices or baked goods. A gram or two here and there adds up.
Use fruits, juice, honey, agave or Xylitol as a sweetener. Concentrated juices work as a replacement for sugar or corn syrup in many recipes
Present a variety of healthy dips to entice raw vegetable eating such as hummus, guacamole, yogurt dip, nut butters (peanut, sunflower, almond), salsa and dark olive oil
Dilute fruit juice with water to cut down on the surge of sugar. Add a splash of vegetable juice into the fruit juice. (some fresh prepared green veggie juices are good too)

I usually drink a V8 in the car ride home most days, and DD loves when I save her a sip. I'm not sure I'd use it inplace of veggies- too much sodium. I think I'd much rather make something in a blender and find other ways to sneak in veggies.
Yes. I still offer veggies, but Brady isnt a big fan of them. He gets a cup or two of watered down juice every day. I am not going to worry about giving him a little juice if the rest of his diet is balanced. I try and give him the juices that have fruit/veggie servings in them (V8 Fusion, the new Motts one, Fruitables...kinds like that) when we are at home.

Miles loves the V8 Fusion, I think it is...that has both fruit/veggies in it, but tastes like fruit juice. He'll drink it all day long if I let him.

just be careful of the sugar content -- it's pretty high.

Should I add that we usually water down juice he drinks? Even the V8 for the sugar reason and I was always afraid it was too acidic for his tummy.
YES! Wow, what a great idea! I never thought of that.
Thanks!
