? for those who BLW

We're slowly starting to integrate finger foods into DS's diet as instructed by our pedi. He has had the following: noodles, rice and matzo. We have also given him a taste of olives, pickles, cucumbers, chicken and watermelon. This is all in addition to gerber snacks. I'm absolutely terrified of him choking. This is mainly because it has happened. I posted a few weeks ago about DS choking on a celery stalk we stupidly let him suck on. There teeth are much more sharp then I expected. Anyway, what have you found to be easiest for LO to eat without choking?

Re: ? for those who BLW

  • Z has had tofu w/ garlic powder, whole wheat pasta w/homemade modified pesto sauce, steamed brocolli, zuchinni(sp), squash, sweet potatoes and chicken. I know there is more. Anything that can be made into a mushy texture really.

  • I concur with what the pps have said.  Things that tend to be soft and graspable are grand.  Fruits cut up, sandwiches cut into bites (I also learned my lesson leaving the sandwich too big and DD getting too much in), banana cut into quarters, roast meats, veggies that are cooked 'till soft.

Probably something you are making for dinner each night would be appropriate.  Maybe not all of the meal, but something is probably ok and then your LO is able to watch you eat the same thing he's trying to eat ;-)
