our first early intervention eval

well early intervention came this morning, and mia does qualify for services. she's two months old, and she measures 1 month behind in almost everything. she's only on target for "self soothing," "receptive langugae" and "fine motor skills." still, they told us that nothing looks severe. we'll just have to wait and see how her brain develops. . .what have your experiences with EI been? have you guys seen improvements in development?

Re: our first early intervention eval

  • DS1 was in EI from 0-3 and than an Early Childhood class until kindergarten.  It helped him tons!!  The only problems we have now is emotional and we actually just had an IEP meeting with his school about it.

  • We actually have our last EI appointment today.  E was in from when she came home from the hospital about a year ago.  She was qualified at first since she was behind in everything.  6 months later she qualified only for speach and gross motor.  Last week when she was evaluated she did not qualify.  We loved EI and were able to go to baby groups through them as well as our home visits and any therapy she needed.  I think it really made the difference!
