I'll start by saying that I love my OB and usually don't question her. But at our previous appointment we had a growth ultrasound (baby measuring big, 75 percentile) and LO was breech. So she started talking about a scheduled c-section. I thought it was waaaaay early to be having that convo, but because I have some ute issues, she thought that maybe there was a reason LO was breech and would never turn. She won't try an external version because of the other issues. So I get a call later that day from the NP b/c I was supposed to be doing kick-counts and she starts off with "So I hear you're having a scheduled c-section. How you feeling about that." I said, well I'm hoping she's still going to flip. She says, "Yeah..." then changes the subject. Awesome, now all I can think about is that the baby will never turn and I might as well just accept the c-section.
Fast forward to this appointment. We see a different OB (group practice) and she is looking at my chart and says "So why are you having a scheduled c-section?" I'm grinding my teeth wondering why that's in my stupid chart when I still have 9 weeks to go!! I said because the baby is breech. So she checks me (externally) and says she feels the head down!! She does a doppler, finds the heart and says "Yep, she's definitely head down." So now I've spent two weeks trying to reconcile myself to a c-section and wondering what to do and all the while it wasn't even going to be an issue. Grrrr, I just wish my OB had waited a couple more weeks before heading straight to c-section talk.
End rant.
Edit: for lame typing skills
Re: OB vent grrrrr
I am just over 29 weeks and baby is already head down, but I would think that beings I still have 10 weeks left she still have time to rotate, so I will see where we are at at 35 weeks when I have my next ultrasound.
I think your OB was definitely jumping to conclusions.
OB's like the one who scheduled the c-section for you are part of the reason why so many people feel like OB's are waaaaay too quick to jump to unnecessary interventions like c-sections, inductions, pain meds, episiotomies, forceps/vacuums, etc.
I would be pretty upset... you're completely entitled to your rant.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

I have a huge pile of medical conditions that may prevent me from being able to have a natural labor and delivery but no one has mentioned a "scheduled" c-section yet.
Mostly, I've just been cautioned to keep an open mind and I've been closely monitored so that when I'm closer, we can make that call.
I would not have been comfortable at all with anyone telling me to schedule a c-section just because the baby hasn't turned yet. That's just asinine this far out.
