Trying to Get Pregnant

My other question - Ovulating

I quit BC in February and have been TTC for 6 months now. I honestly don't know if I am ovulating or not, which is why just started charting.

My question is, if I chart for 2 - 3 months, will I be able to tell if I am ovulating or not? Or, is it possible that there is some sort of test the doctor can take to see if I am ovulating? I am not sure if there is such a test, but I am wondering if it is something I can do, or would I need to wait until the one year mark?

I am not trying to take the easy way out, I am just getting frustrated and wish I could know NOW if I am ovulating, rather than in a few months.

Thanks everyone, I love this board! And sorry that I am turning back into a total newb again. Geeked

  • Your doc can check your progesterone level at 7dpo to see if you O'd.

  • A clear thermal shift on your chart means you most likely ovulated. That is the way you can confirm it.

  • You don't have to wait a few months to know if you're ovulating. While you will obviously have more data if you have a few charts to compare, you'll be able to tell at each cycle whether you ovulated or not. The temp shift will confirm it. You might want to try charting for at least one cycle, so you can see what your body is doing before you go see a doctor. Then you can give more informed information on what your body is doing. Have you checked out the FertilityFriend tutorials? They're easy to understand and would really help you get started.
  • Charting is easy and will tell you if you o or not. Blood work can be done as well as ulrasound to see if you o. Timing of those tests can be difficult if you have crazy cycles. Buy some opks and a thermometer, set your alarm and see what happens for a month. Good luck.
