Is anybody good with computers??

Maybe somebody on here can help me.... I am a manager at my mom's company that she owns. It is small and we only have about 5 employees. We think 1 or 2 has been getting on the internet while they are supposed to be working (facebook or myspace). Her business is in the mall so it's not like they are sitting in an office, we need them up and trying to promote the product. Is there a way to put a password on the internet so they can not get on? Or somehow block the internet from them? We can't get rid of the internet connection all together because we need the connection for the credit card machine. If you have any idea if this is even possible please let me know, TIA!

There is a way, but I don't know how to do it, do you have and IT company who maintains your server? You could call them and they should be able to walk you thru or change the settings so that all sites are blocked.

I am not an expert by any means but here is my 2 cents:

2 options I think

1. Create an adminstrator account with full access to everything and a guest account (with different passwords). On the guest account get rid of internet explorer (or whatever browser you use).

2. Use the parental controls to block the various web sites such as myspace and facebook

Definitely this and you can download an add-on on firefox called Blocksite which will allow you to block specific sites as well as password protect it. So when they try to go on that site it asks for the password you created for the admin. And if anyone tries to alter Blocksite's features, it will ask for the password you created for that program. Also, if you go into Internet Explorer you can basically render it inoperable by going into parental controls and restricting access.

Another option is to download some free parental control software which would allow you to set the dates/times when internet can be used (such as during employee breaks) and password protect it. There should be some free softwares available for download at Cnet.com for free if you google it. If you need any more help, PM me.

Just because you have an internet connection doesn't mean you have to have a browser.

You can:

1) Remove the browsers

or

2) Parental control the brower
