Parenting after a Loss

Irrational thought of a working Momma

It is one of those days today, I guess. Back story (short version) is that BFF has a baby girl born 10 days after DD. This baby has teeth, crawls, etc. My baby doesn't. I know milestones vary. DD is doing other things and is in general a very "easy" baby compared to BFFs DD. In my mind I am still convinced that she is doing more because BFF is SAHM. I know it's silly. I think it is worse because this is the friend who now thinks that working full time is irresponsible- though she doesn't look down on me for doing so. *eye roll* I hate feeling guilty.

  • I know what you mean. When I get home at night I have to put her in the jumper or something so that I can get stuff done around the house. I feel guilty that I don't spend enough time "stimulating" her although I am sure she is fine. But I do feel guilty.

It doesn't help that Kate rarely utters a syllable...I just keep telling myself she doesn't have anything to say just yet :(

  • If it helps, DS was home (just not with me) his first 9 months with tons of 1 on 1 interaction and love and he still doesn't crawl. My friend's son started crawling early and he was in daycare since 12 weeks old. All babies are different. If anything, I'd think babies would do better with learning motor skills with all of the other babies around to immitate and mimic.

  • I don't think anyone can measure up in our "mommy eyes" to do what we would do- that 's just how it goes.  BUT I do not think it's a reflection of you not being a SAHM at all!  It's easy to think it is but your LO will progress as she is ready.
I also would not be very happy if one of my BFF had that opinion...it's judgmental.
