I got mine. I was hesitant last year but I got it, had no side effects and no flu. Between having asthma and being pregnant it seemed the smart thing to do again this year.

I will not be getting it, my doc has not mentioned it and DH gets one b.c he works in hospitals. I can't just get mine at the pharmacy anyway b.c I have some neurological issues and they said they can't do it.
Got mine and luckily didn't have any symptoms the following day except for a freakin painful spot on my arm where the shot was. I just kept reminding myself of the flu I had last winter and then jumped for glee that no such thing would be happening! Wahoo!

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut
Signing the paperwork in the next week or so with Occupational health at work stating that I understand the risks of declining the flu shot.
I work at a hospital and they make us fill out this paperwork as well... I hate it. Why do they have to make you feel bad or quilty for declining it?
I had a flu shot when I was a baby... back in the 70's when there was a scare like we had last year. It was one of those airgun type injections that they can't use anymore. (man I feel old LOL) Anyway, I think I had the flu a couple times when I was young and never got it again since, so I don't feel the need for the shot now.
To each his own though. I just don't want it for myself.

I wish that we could have a sticky at the top of the page with all of our answers.
No, I will not be getting one. The last time that I got the flu was 6-7 years ago, and it was the only year that I got the flu. The flu shot that I received was not the cause of the flu, it was simply not the correct strain for what I caught. Because of this, I have made the decision that it is not right for me. My H does not get one either. I also believe that the decision is to each their own, make the decision that you feel is right.
Also what kdodge said. Each year they decide what the 3 biggest threats are going to be in regards to the flu strains. There are 100s of different strains. This year, one of the 3 is the H1N1 strain. It is not a combined shot, it is the normal shot. The confusion of this is one of the reason why I sometimes love the media.
I asked my doc about this yesterday. I said, "Do I have to get the flu shot?" and he very clearly replied, "Yes." Even though I NEVER get the flu. I guess I'll have to suck it up and just get the shot. I hope I don't get sick from the shot.

I belong to a prenatal group and we each got a combined flu and H1N1 shot yesterday.
Oy. There is no combined shot. This year's flu shot includes H1N1. It's not like they took last year's seasonal shot and an H1N1 and dumped them together- H1N1 is part of this year's seasonal.
Seriously- do a little bit of research.
This. It boggles my mind that people know ZERO about what they're injecting into their bodies and how these shots work.
To answer the question, yes, I will be getting one along with my son.
No, I'm not getting it. I had the flu a few times as a kid but nothing major... a few people in my family have tried it over the years and each have gotten sick from it for a week or so... seems more like a "get your sickness out of the way now" rather than a prevention.
Now if there was something that would prevent me from getting strep throat or tonsillitis all winter, THAT I could get behind. I get that more regularly than my period!
I got the flu shot yesterday. My arm's a bit sore today, but so far no other side-effects! Still any side effects are better than actually getting the flu.
This was actually the first time I've gotten a flu shot. Normally, I figure that I haven't gotten the flu in years so what's the point in getting the shot, but because I'm pregnant I decided to get it this year. When we're pregnant, our immune systems are compromised making it easier for us to catch the flu. Also, pregnancy makes it more likely that the flu, if caught, would be life-threatening (remember all those pregnant women who died of H1N1 last year?) From what the MW at my OB's office told me, an illness that would normally mean a day or two in bed can turn into a hospital trip when you're pregnant. Not a chance I think is worth taking...
This was a very hot topic yesterday among the pregnant women at my office. The company administering free flu shots here at work refused to give them to any of us because it wasn't the preservative-free version. Now, there's no evidence that thimerosal (the preservative) causes any harm to pregnant women or fetuses, and my doctor (as well as the doctors of several of the other women) actually offers the flu shot containing thimerosal at her office. But no dice.
They are willing to reimburse us for getting the preservative-free shot elsewhere, but the challenge is finding a place that has it. So now we're all waiting to see what Benefits tells us about that.

Yes, I will be getting one, along with my DD.
I always get the shot...and the one year I didn't, I got the flu, and never want that again!
Plus, this baby will have a little more protection when born because he/she will get some of the protection passed through me.
