Obviously NTTGPR, but lately I've noticed lots of Doxies in siggy pics. How many of us on here have doxies? I'm a little doxie crazy, I spot them everywhere.
We have 2, Baron and Duchess. Baron is a 2 year old smooth coat chocolate standard weighing in at 24 lbs. Duchess is our rescued baby. She is a smooth coat black and tan miniature weighing in at 10 lbs. Our best guess is that she is 2 years old but a few months younger than Baron. We celebrate her adoption day December 6th, 2008. She was a late wedding gift from DH but she is totally a Daddy's girl. ![]()
What about you?

I'm actually part of a group that gets together and has "puppy playdates" every few months. We hold them at Doggy Daycares. Its so much fun to see 50+ Doxies all running and playing together!
We are Doxie crazy too!
We have two, Raspy and Misses Dash (or Boo and Doodlebug). Raspy (boy) is a black and tan wirehair. Dash (girl) is a a black and brindle shorthair. They are almost 5 years old. They are only three months apart in age and have the same daddy (we got them from a breeder).
And we have an angel fubaby, Baby Cole. We lost her almost 6 years ago, but we still miss her very much.
I love being a doxie mommy!

They have very strong personalities don't they? I'm a little nervous about them with a baby too. I think Duchess will go into "Momma Mode" and be protective and caring but Baron is my little man and he can be very needy. I'm worried he will have some jealousy issues.
I am so sorry for your loss. I feel like they are my babies and I would be devastated if anything every happened to them...

I love being a doxie mommy too. They are both snuggling with me right now. Duchess is laying on top of Baron. I can't imagine one without the other. They are the best of friends.
They are so cute!
Thanks
I was hoping to see more pictures of doxies on this post!

My doxie is out of snuggle mode right now and I hate that. It will work out great when we do have a baby.
Do any of you have issues with your doxies licking? Ours licks ALL the time. The couch, tables, her paws, our feet and hands. Haven't been able to figure out how to get her to stop.
I will show you my wiener (SFW!
).
Sorry if my wiener is huge.

My Punky is a licker! So yucky
She mostly sticks to the sheets/covers, couch, and her paws. I try to stop it when I see her, but she just stops until next time.

Ha. Good to know ours isn't the only one.

I don't have the pleasure of being a Doxie mom but I have a Doxie "cousin". DH's Aunt is the proud mama of Mrs. Beasley (PIP) and I just love that puppy to pieces!! She's adorable. Just wanted to share and add more Doxie pics.

I love to see all the doxies moms!! I am a proud doxie mom to a miniature long haired red weenie! She is about 12 lbs. Her name is Elsie and she is a spolied little girl for sure! She is our first weenie and we are hooked!
Did you know there's an actual term for those? They are called tweenies. All of ours have been tweenies. Not tiny enough for minis, but not standard either. Our little girl is 14 pounds and our little boy is 18, though he topped out at 21 before his back surgery last year (never overweight, just his build; doctor never told us to have him lose weight).
We got our little girl after we lost our first. I didn't think I could handle having another, but DH missed it too much (we were devasated when we lost our first), so I agreed earlier than we intended. Long story about how we got our second, but I couldn't imagine not having them both! And they really helped us heal.
We consider Baron a standard because he's built like a standard. He is all muscle and his weight isn't quite enough to be an official standard.
Baron we got off Craigslist. He was the result of a backyard breeder and was in HORRIBLE conditions. There was no way I was leaving him there. He had fleas, extra toes, an umbilical hernia (bellybutton), and worms. My poor baby. Duchess was rescued through Midwest Dachshund Rescue. What event do you go to? We always go to Midwest Dachshund Rescue's Crosstown Bark-a-thon in Chicago every May and to Germanfest in Milwaukee every July. We've considered going to Midwest Dachshund Fest in Danville, IL in September but we've never made it.
Ours is a tweenie, too.
Chester licks a lot, and he also sucks on his blankie and toys. As long as it's his own stuff he's licking, I don't mind. I can't stand it when he tries to lick the lotion off my legs though. Gross!
