At my appointment last week I was measuring at 33 weeks and told I was right on track. My appointment today was with a different OB who told me I'm measuring at 38 weeks and going to have a big baby. How in the world is the measurement that different in one week's time?
Anyone else have this experience towards the end? I'm a little irritated to be told "There's no way you measured 33 last week. I'd be afraid to give you a weight estimate right now."

Re: Measuring at 33 weeks last week and 38 this week?
Maybe the baby changed position?
(Or one of them could be an idiot. ;-))
i was measured twice at my last appointment (once by a student doctor and once by my doctor). the student got 35 weeks, my doctor got 33. either way, i'm measuring ahead.
the baby may have switched positions. or as MSC said, one of them could be an idiot.

This. Fundal measurements are not accurate at all. They can vary greatly form week to week. Even US at this point can be off + or - 2 lbs.
I find that different midwives at my practice will start their measurement at different points on the pubic bone. So I usually grab the end of the tape measure and hold it where I know the measurement should be taken from. They actually encouraged this so that there was less error from midwife to midwife, and even from the same midwife but different appointments.
I also feel like my fundal height would change a lot depending on if the baby's butt is hanging out there, or if they are sort of sunken into my stomach.
I wouldn't be worried with those measurements. I went from 33cm at 30 weeks to 38cm at 32 weeks. At that point my MW sent me for a growth ultrasound to make sure I wasn't growing a butterball in there. Turns out from the ultrasound this kiddo was measuring 35 weeks when I was 33 weeks, and the estimated weight was 5lb 3oz. So I'm not too worried, I think that's all within the +/- of each test.
