Times have changed!

When my grandma was pregnant w/ my dad & his twin sister (about 60yrs ago).  The doctor sent her for an x-ray because he felt a lot of arms and legs but could only find one heartbeat.

When my grandma went grocery shopping she would park the stroller (or carriage as she calls it) in front of the store w/ the twins in it and go inside and go grocery shopping.  Can you even imagine leaving your kids alone outside at the store???

Re: Times have changed!

  • Totally.  When my Aunt was pregnant with her triplets (who are no 57), they thought she was really large so they took an xray to see that there were 3.  The trips were born at 30 weeks and weighed around 2lbs each.  I still can't believe all 3 survived.

  • It is crazy.  My mom is a twin (64 years old) and her mom didn't know she was having twins. After she gave birth to my mom, she told the doctors she was still having contractions.  They didn't believe her and sent her to the recovery room.  Several minutes later my aunt came out!

  • Wow!

I saw on an Oprah about women around the world and they leave their buggies outside all the time in Denmark.  When Oprah questioned it the woman said, "Who would want to steal a baby?" With a laugh...

    So different!

I was going to post something about Denmark. My best friend just went there and she was astounded to see this. But hey, the woman has a point! Ha ha!

  • How nice it would be to live in simpler times. Not that I would want to leave my babies outside, but to know that I could rely on strangers to keep an eye on them and not worry about them hurting or kidnapping them. Instead, we have to figure out how to use a public bathroom with 2 babies and a tiny stall  :)
  • I thought of Denmark, too. They're smart over there. We're a buncha a-holes.
  • Ok, that's it, DH and I are moving to Denmark.  I'm constantly worrying that someone's going to take one of my boys and hurt them.

I told my husband I wanted to move to Denmark too!

FWIW, my mom didn't know she was having twins until the day she had them, and that was only 24 years ago!

  • Similar thing happened to my mom... her ob said she seemed way to big for 5 or 6 months along so they took an x-ray and wwooopps 2 babies hahaha! My brothers turned out ok ..... i guess? hahaha and i was complaining about finding out at 20 weeks!
