Head engaged then disengaged?

So for the last two weeks, my doctor has been telling me that the baby's head is well engaged, but yesterday when I went, the doctor said that her head is disengaged, which I've never heard of happening.  She didn't seem overly concerned, but has this happened to anyone?  Did you go into spontaneous labor? 

I thought I was making so much progress, and now I feel like I'm going backwards!

    My MW said that the head can come in and out of 'engagement'.  It could be a good thing if the head wasn't engaged at the proper position (ie prepping for back labour or not).  So what you have might not necessarily be a bad thing.
