OMG i have never hated a shower more then this one. Someone needs to put Amber in a padded room. & Tyler and Katelyn need to get the hell over it! I have no idea why they are told they did so good, maybe if they got off their ass and got a job they could have raised her. Why are they even still on the show. They go most shows without even showing a picture or talking about their daughter!
Since this made people just to the conclusion i was saying they need to get over the adoption let me fix my statment. Next time i will be sure to read back through my posts to make sure im not called ignorant! I meant other people need to get over them. Im not sure why they are still on the show. Im sorry the line should read..... & tyler and katelyn people need to get the hell over it!So sorry i left out a word! I do see how that sounds bad but totally not what i meant!

Because it would be so much better for them to get a job and raise a child in that enviroment? As teenagers. They did the BEST thing for carly by giving her a loving home and a chance at a normal life. They are trying their best to finish school so that when they ARE ready to have children, they can provide for them.
They do talk about carly every episode. It follows their story of OPEN adoption. They get pictures, send her gifts, talk to her on the phone
I've never given a child up for adoption but I would guess it's not that easy to just "get the hell over it." I don't think they made a bad decision in allowing someone else to give their child more than they were able to.
With regard to them showing pictures and talking about her, the producers decide what gets shown on the show and what doesn't.

But I am PISSED at your ignorance.
Who is to say they couldn't have got their life together, got a low income apartment and raised their child like so many people have. Im sure they will never get over putting her up for adoption that's not what i meant at all, I actually typed it and wondered if it would be taken that way. I just dont see why they get praised soooo much. I remember after the first season when they did the reunion the mediator guy did nothing but praise them. Thats not ok. It shows kids oh dont worry if you screw around get pregnant and you will get praised for giving it up and not trying.

I don't exactly think they should be on the show.... but i don't by any means think they should "get the hell over it." That's like telling someone with a stillborn or a miscarriage to move on and forget about it.
I can ASSURE you. It is not "giving it up and not trying"
Dont you think it'd be easier to try and fail instead of carrying a child for 9 months and giving it to someone else. To always wonder what happened? To wonder if they baby you carried is still even alive? To wonder forever with NO answer (in most closed adoption cases). Its by FAR easier to just keep the kid and let the grandparent raise it, or ignore it while you try to go about you life and your child suffers because you "thought" you could handle it and you cant. They are subject to more abusive homes because kids that young do not know how to handle their stress and tempers (amber &gary).
9 times out of 10, adoption is NOT easier. Its in the BEST intrest of the child and it is the MOST SELFLESS THING you can do.
you are ignorant to assume that they can just get a low income house and make it work and you think adoption is apparently the easy way out.
They were able to give their child better then they could give her and better then they ever had. I think they should be commended in saying "we can't handle this". I think they did the most mature thing of all of them.
They could just get some low income housing? Really? It's that easy when you are under 18, don't qualify for any job and will struggle forever, and your child will too? They did an amazing thing, they gave that couple an extraordinary gift and a gift to their daughter too.
In some situations I totally agree its best, but the bad part of the family is their parents not them. I just watched them watch a high school graduation and say that will be me someday. Why did they not graduate. people who did keep their kids finished, neither of them work, and they just show them sitting around or shopping all the time!
THIS! It would be difficult for me to "get the hell over it." Especially in an open adoption where you see your child and see how they are doing and what you are missing.
Amber is the only one who is annoying everybody the most...grr!
I like hearing about them. I think adoption is a decent option for a lot of people, but I think there are a lot of groups out there who think that it's easier to do than it is. I think it's good for teenagers to see how hard it is for the two of them and that it's not the "easier" option.
But how do they know that!!! I have watched so many families struggle and raise they kids just fine. Did the father have to work 2-3 dead end jobs, yes! Did they live in not so luxurious places, yes. But did they child grow up with its family and now they all live much better lives? Yes. I guess we only see what the producers want us to see and no one really knows if they could or couldn't have done it but in my opinion it makes me angry to watch them on the show.
First off, Amber did not finish HS.
Secondly, those other girls were lucky enough to have a supportive family to help them get through school.. Tyler and Catelynn have zero support, the dad is in and out of jail/rehab and the mom is clearly an addict...she chain smokes and barely takes care of her own kid. Would you leave your child with someone like that?
As I fixed it in my post. I meant people need to get over them as in their story. Not them. I mistyped it. Of course they will never get over it. Im not that much of a ***! is anyone?
I just don't understand what you don't get about the fact that they loved her enough to give her better then that. Then to give her better then always struggling, they loved her enough to know they didn't want their life for her.
Because it was better for me to be raised in a family where my mom and dad were home, where I didn't wonder when my daddy would come home.If I would have enough to eat for dinner. I knew I could play soccer, and dance, and cheerleading and whatever else I wanted to do. To have those things provided to make a wonderful childhood. To live in a nice home, not some 1 bedroom apartment with no bed sheets. Because I knew growing up that I would have whatever I needed, no matter what it was. Because, my mother and father truly WANTED me, begged and pleaded, and waited years for me. I was CHOSEN by them. Because I was given to a mother and father who pledged to stay together forever, to make it work, for me.
You have no idea who you are talking to so I suggest you stop talking about things you have no idea about. You are digging youself into a hole.
I think the fact that neither of them have graduated shows just ow hard it is to give up a child. I can't imagine being able to focus on school when I'd just given up a child. Let's face it, those kids were never going to be good parents, they don't have any role modles of what a good parent is. They made a mature choice to recognise that money wasn't just the issue in them not keeping their daughter. Even if Teen Mom gave them a whack of cash, they don't have the tools to be good parents. They can see that why can't you?
Oh yes because you know my entire life and there for I dont know what im talking about and im digging a hole. Im not sure who you think you are or the fact that your opinion is the only one that matters but Im not going to stop talking, in my opinion they could have had a chance. I guess my parents should have given me up for adoption. Damn i will be sure to let them know all their hard work to give me a good life even though we weren't rich was all for no reason!

They are still on the show because people admire their COURAGE. They did something a lot of kids would never think of doing. They show the world adoption is NOT the easy way out.
Plain and simple. Its easier to keep your baby and try to make it work, and work your 3 jobs than to give your child a life you couldn't.
Yes, it works out sometimes. Most of the time? Not likely.

I TOTALLY admire Tyler and Catelynn. I bawled watching their episode a few weeks ago for the first time. As someone who was adopted, it really hit home for me. If anything, I wish they had a better social worker or agent, whatever she's called. I think it's really unhealthy for them to still think of Carly as anyone's grandchild, etc. I wish they had more support at home, too. Anyway, going back to how unhealthy it is. Carly is no longer their child and I feel horrible for them because they seem to have this mind frame that Carly is on loan or something. I think open adoption is a beautiful thing, but their social worker is not doing her job by helping them understand clear boundaries and having healthy expectations as far as visiting and contacting Carly. Like the birthstone necklace? Yes, it was a beautiful gesture, but it was pretty inappropriate. Carly has parents. Parents who probably went through heck trying to have their own baby then had to go through the emotional roller coaster of adoption. Tyler and Catelynn are fabulous and I know they would be handling the situation a LOT better if they had a better social worker.
Having said all that, they absolutely made the best choice for their baby. I remember in high school when I was friends with teen moms in those "low income housing" situations and had to watch them struggle. I mentally thanked my birth mom every day for making that impossible choice, to give me what she couldn't. I can't wait to thank her for that one day.

I read all the posts and still think you are being ignorant. Not everything can be tied up into a nice little bow. Real life people do things they shouldn't and everyone has to take their own path to move on and live their life. If they had of kept their baby and lived in the environment they were in , there would be people yelling to call in CPS. You would probably be at the top of the list.
I hate Amber, period. She is a bad mother, a horrible companion, and just an all around bad person. Gary should have called the cops on her. She yells at him, cusses him out, and he sits there and takes it. Then she has the nerves to scream at him "DON'T YELL AT ME IN MY HOUSE". Holy crap, she needs admitted. Gary needs to man up and leave the b!tch out of his life. Any court system that would give her custody of that child, is crazy to me.
As for Tyler and Katelyn, while I don't agree that they should just "get over it", I do see your point. I understand that it is important for people to understand the hardships that come with putting your child up for adoption, but like you said, some episodes they go without even showing a picture of her and it is based more on the drama that Butch and Katelyn's Mom cause. Maybe, it would be better to not show them on every show, but maybe every other.
Tcarroll you sound like a teenager yourself by the way you talk and your defense tactics - good ole "you don't know my life!" All we know is the ignorance you clearly portrayed in your original post (and for the record, I certainly don't believe a word was accidentally left out, but nice try).
The bottom line is there were a lot of decisions Tyler and Catelynn could have made but there was absolutely nothing WRONG with the decision they did make. It was about what was best for Carly; what Tyler and Catelynn decided to do with their lives after the adoption has nothing to do with it. You cannot honestly say that Carly could have had a better life with them than she does with her adoptive parents. Not to mention a couple who is unable to have children now has a beautiful daughter.
You say showing the adoption is like telling kids they have an easy out if they get pregnant. The show has made a point of showing that giving up their daughter has been anything BUT easy for them. Is a show geared at teenagers really that far above your head?

Tcarrol12- I agree, Tyler & Kate should not be on the show anymore. It just shows them, & there dating drama that nobody wants to see. Shes a cheater & I dont think he even cares for her anymore! It is not about their child, i think they are only still doing it for the money. I am sorry for what they have been through.. I could never give imagine giving up my child! If they were more about the baby, i wouldnt be against them being on the show.
