Re: first time mommy

  • Congratulations!  I am also awake at odd times of the night, unfortunately all of my pregnancies have been like this.  I am not a big fan of medicating myself while pregnant, I just don't feel like that is good for the baby.  My theory is, your body is getting you ready for what is coming- up at night with feedings.  With my daughter she always had a busy time at 11 PM when in utero, and when she was out of utero- same thing.  That was her fussiest time and then she would sleep for longer periods of time.  You will get her on a routine.

Talk to your doctor about the breathing issues.

  • I asked my doctor about the active times thing... she told me just because LO is active only at night and early morning it doesn't mean he/she will be a night owl.  As for your other questions im also a FTM so I cant help.  Good luck!

  • I don't know anything about taking sleep aides while pregnant, that's definitely something you should consult your doctor about.

As for the hard time breathing while laying down, I recommend trying to incline your upper half while sleeping.  This will help gravity take the load of your bump off of your lungs.  But again, this is something you can talk to your doctor about.  It is pretty common to feel some shortness of breath, or feel like you can no longer take a full deep breath as you get further along into your pregnancy.  Your growing uterus is pushing your stomach upwards into your diaphragm, making it harder to breathe.
