My 60 lb Boxer "nursing" on my pointer finger while he slept. Since I've been pregnant, he's been doing little things to act like more of a puppy (he's only 14 months old). All he wants is to sit in my lap, be cuddled, and be near me. I'm looking for a trainer to help prepare him for the LO. Is that a little too much? His behavior is sort of cute now, but it won't be when I have a baby to care for, and I'm running on little to no sleep.

Re: I woke up from my nap today to find...
Have you been doing anything to prepare him for the baby? There's a number of things you can do beyond a behaviorist. Little things like playing baby sounds, getting him use to baby scents, switching around his schedule a little, working on bad habits now etc.
EDD 1/31/13, MC May 17. EDD 3/31/13, MC July 26. I miss you so much already my angel loves
My two have to be in eye view of me constantly and in the morning if I am not sitting on the couch with them, they will sit and stare at me with this sad puppy face you see below
I really think they know something is up...
My dog and my cat have been acting differently, but it is mostly the dog. He HAS to be right on me whenever I am at home, and prefers to just be in my lap....he is 110 lbs (see pic below) and my lap is disappearing on a daily basis!
He is 1 1/2 years old and has reverted back to some puppy things he used to do, but we are nipping that in the bud before he gets too off track!
We have started trying to get them ready for the baby. Every time something new for the baby comes is the house I leave it out for them to sniff and get used to. The dog has always slept with us, but that is not going to work when I am getting up for feeding all night so we have already moved him to his new spot and acted like it was a treat for him to get the whole basement (which has a sofa he's allowed on) by himself at night.
They are around babies often with my nieces and nephews so I am not too worried about baby noises and stuff, but after I have the baby when DH comes home to let the dog out/feed/play with him he will bring a blanket that the baby has used so that they can smell it and I am going to let them have a full on sniff-a-thon when the baby comes in the house for the first time.
Is there anything else that anyone thinks I should be doing??
