I was going to deliver in Katy but complications have made that impossible. I am now going to deliver at the Woman's Hospital. We have taken our tour and are pleased with the policies. One of the most important things I like about Woman's is they have a level 2 NICU. They can deal with most complications with the exception of open heart surgery. The second most important thing I like about the Woman's Hospital is they are comfortable with my insulin pump. I feel safer knowing they deal with type 1 diabetics on a regular basis. I hope you find the best hospital for what you need.
I cannot say enough good things about Womens. I was in L&D for 2 weeks on total bedrest. Every nurse that cared for me was so knowledgeable and helpful. Then DS was in the NICU for quite a while and the level of care he received was awesome. I know that being at Women's is a big part of why DS is here and doing so well.
I had a scheduled c-section at Women's. I adored the OR and anesthesiology nurses but did not like the post-partum nurses. Perhaps I was just unlucky, but dealing with them became quite frustrating. It was there that I learned you truly have to be your biggest advocate and not be afraid to speak up for yourself.
I am delivering #2 at St. Luke's, and there's no guarantee I will like this experience any better. I sure hope so, but I do realize every experience even within the same hospital can be different.

I delivered at St Luke's with a scheduled c-section and was very happy with them. I chose them in part because I was being paranoid and wanted the Level III NICU right there. But also they're a great family-centered hospital.
We did end up with two days of NICU time which wasn't the greatest experience (I did not like the first nurse I dealt with there at all) but at St Luke's itself the experience was fantastic. They took good care of us.
I had a scheduled c/s at Women's and had a great experience. Everyone was wonderful during deliver and after. I had one semi-unhelpful baby nurse who just kind of handed Cooper to me with no directions on what to do as far as bfing, but the next nurse (who came on shortly after) was very "hands on" and showed me the ropes. I also had an LC who wasn't great, but I called and asked for a different one who helped me as much as I needed.
I wouldn't change a thing. It helped that I loved my OB and I thought she was great - she came by each day to check up on me.
I am so over b*tchy nurses and hearing ya'll mention it make me even more over it. My Godmother is in the hospital right now and I got stories all morning about how rude her nurse has been to her. Ugh.
I think expecially in a time of pregnancy women are very sensitive. I won't go on about my phone experience today with the financial lady at the O.B and her shortness and almost rudeness with me. I just found out last night and was still taking all of this in, so sensitive. They should just be nice. Period.
Anyways, thanks for the past post links and all of your detailed input. I still think I'm leaning towards Women's. I do realize that it just depends no matter where you go though. You just have to hope for the best.

I do think that loving your OB is important. My last OB left a lot to be desired and had absolutely no interest in me once she stitched me back up. I didn't see her until it was time to be discharged, and she was 12 hours later than expected that day (with very poor communication with her office throughout the day).

Good Luck!
