When did you go back to work? Short Term DI?

After your mc when did you return to work? Did any one successfully file a "Short Term Disability" claim to give yourself time to mourn the loss of your baby in the comfort of your own home.

The idea of going back Monday morning and seeing the 4 other pregnant girls in my office is absolutely crushing...I don't think I can do it. One of the girls is two weeks behind me and the thought of watching her belly grow, sitting next to her in meetings, and running into her in the bathroom or hallway makes me want to throw-up.

I went back to work right away. As far as I know you can only qualify for STD if it is medically necessary so I would talk to your doctor about that because I think they have to fill out paperwork before you will get that. And STD only kicks in after so many days ( I think it's 5) so if you are only going to take a day or two off you wouldn't qualify for it anyway.

I took 6 weeks off and it was covered under short term disability, but I gave birth to my triplets at 20 weeks. My doctor filled out paperwork.

I had miscarried Wednesday night/Thursday early AM in the ER and had off Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hoshana. I went back on Monday and I was ok.

I definitely needed that 4 day weekend though.

I will say that getting back to work helped me be more distracted than sitting around the house.

I returned to work the next day. In a way it was nice to have a distraction. Can you take a vacation day or two to give yourself the time you need?

I just don't think I am emotionally ready to go back. Even if I can't take STD, I may just take a temporary leave of absence (with out pay)

After I told me direct supervisor, my boss went around and told everyone in our office what had happened. They sent food and a plant, but I just don't think I can handle all the "pity faces", baby-showers, and bellies everywhere I turn.

My elimination period on my policy is 7 days which will be up on Tuesday. I feel like I just need more time to mourn this baby. We tried for so long and went through so much to conceive this baby...I cannot believe it is already over!

I had my D&C on 9/7 (last tuesday) and I took the rest of last week off. My doctor actually wrote me out until tuesday of this week but I returned on Monday. I'm pretty sure you cannot claim short term disability at this point. I'd just take the time you need, it sounds like you have a very understanding boss.

I took off 2 weeks, but found out I could have taken 6 - through short-term disability. I wish I had. Being back to work has been rough.

I went back to work right away. I only really took off 1 days to go to 2 doctor's appointments. I was fortunate that things started on a Thursday night so I took off Friday and had the weekend to kind of rest up.

I'm not going to lie, it's definitely hard but I am fortunate enough that I do not work with anyone who is pregnant. I can see where that would be very very hard.

I took 2 weeks off. I know what you're saying about the other pregnant woman - my first bathroom break back - there was the preggie. She stared at me wondering why my belly was gone (I was almost 31 weeks) but didn't say a word. I was also dreading going back - but it wasn't as bad as I built it up in my mind. It's still tough seeing the pregnant ladies though - ugh.

I didn't have a MC so maybe this is different? I actually ended up going out on FMLA and used most of my vacation time and all my sick time. I was out for just under a month.

There is a girl at work who is 5 months pregnant and that is the worst. Seeing her belly getting bigger, knowing mine should be too and it's not is really hard. I would definitely take whatever time you need, it's sounds like your boss will let you.

I was able to use the state DI plan because I was working as a massage therapist and pain was preventing me from being able to do my job. I was only out for 2 weeks though. I did work with all single girls, though, I might have felt differently in your situation.
