3rd Trimester

Scheduled induction today

So my doctor is going to be out of town the week before I am due and my original due date was November 21st.  At my 20 week ultrasound they changed it to November 18th.  Well now I have to wait until November 23rd if I want my doctor...hope he doesn't come early!  (maybe by then I won't care!)

Re: Scheduled induction today

  • Is there a medical reason you scheduled an induction already?

  • Nope.  I want my doctor since it is a big clinic.  If he comes sooner than I will get someone else, but not my preference.

I wasn't aware people were willing to take such risks to just have the doctor they want.

  • So let me get this straight - they let you schedule the induction (title of your post) and there's no medical reasoning for this - you just want it bc it's convenient for you?

    Hmm

  • Feisty.  No its not that its good for me...I will be over 40 weeks so its not as if I am rushing into labor or putting my baby at risk etc...  My doctor doesn't want me going over 40 weeks and this way she can deliver me.  Why is this a horrible thing?

I'm begging my doctor to let me go to 41 if I don't go into labor on my own by then. Elective inductions can have scary results, not to mention it involves drugs like pit that I don't want (but that's me). At least you'll be over 40.

  • I wasn't trying to be feisty, I was curious. (You didn't mention you would be due at the time and I didn't do the math according to your ticker.)

I personally just would be scared to go through an induction if I didn't have to, as I am told they are far more intense (pain wise) than going into labor naturally is all.

Everyone's pain tolerance, views and thoughts are different on this (and many other things of course) for sure! That is how I feel so I was, again, curious.

    1. You have GD, you have a medical reason. 2. 37 weeks is considered full term in that if you go into labor ON YOUR OWN then doctors will not stop it. If you choose to induce at 37 weeks though and your due date was wrong you risk your baby not finishing development, not to mention the risks that induction drugs carry. Educate yourself please.

  • I think you threw everyone off with the title of your post 'scheduled induction today' and then your ticker saying you're only 32 weeks.
