Hi all,
My friend loaned me her Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, and I stocked up on test strips. When I went to use it for the first time I found that the monitor is broken.
Now I have a zillion test strips. Can they still be accurately used without the monitor? Am I just looking for two blue bars to show up to indicate the LH surge, like any other OPK?
If any of you used the CBE fertility monitor and can tell me what I'm looking for, it would be a big help. Those suckers are expensive, and I'd like to use them if I can.
Thanks!
Re: Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor - can I use strips without the device?
They say that you can't do that.
If you look on Ebay you can usually find the monitors for pretty good deals. That's where I got mine.

Yeah, I know they say you can't, but I guess I'm more curious to see if anyone has any experience with successfully using them anyway. Of course they say it won't work - they want us to buy the whole kit.
Thanks for your feedback! I may use regular OPKs and compare to those test strips this month, just to see. I got pregnant right away last time, so I'm hoping for similar luck this time around (well, minus the ectopic part). If this cycle doesn't work out, I'll probably pick up a monitor.
In my experience, the test strips work similarly to OPKs. In the early part of my cycle, I get the faintest of a second line. Whenever I get a peak reading, the LH line (the line closest to the peestick) is as dark or almost as dark as the other line.
I know they say the monitor measures LH and estrogen and that the test sticks can't be interpreted by our own eyes, but my lines do get gradually darker the closer I get to O.

Cool, thanks. I'm going to experiment a bit this month. And hey, if that line starts getting darker, even if it isn't completely accurate, all the more reason to squeeze in a little time with my husband!
