I'm a NICU nurse, and we use a NeoWrap, which is basically the same material as a ziploc baggie in the form of a sheet, but probably 1000x the cost and has a different name. We use them on babies we anticipate to be less than 1000gms at birth (generally under 28weeks). They keep heat and moisture trapped in. For these babies, losing too much heat or water can mean life or death in the long run and makes it more difficult to stablize them after birth.
