NAPR: the digital age & my compulsions

I just got a 30% off offer from Kodak today and am quickly and furiously putting together my digital photo book of the trip I took in March with DD to see my sister in Cuba (and introduce DD to her for the first time). I am going to order a copy for myself and a copy for my sister, but now I am thinking I should order 2 copies for me so I can give one to DD to keep one day wherever in the world she ends up. Is that completely compulsive?

  • LOL how about yes and no :-)  I'd guess by the time LO is settled and wants the book you and DH might be in the "holy crud we might die someday and what will LO do with all this stuff!"

My ILs did something similar (an 18 volume photo set for each boy and one for them . . . shoot me!) and now that DH is old enough to appreciate his own "set" his parents are at a stage where they're looking to pass along their stuff.  Neither of DH's brothers really wants their sets either so I think they'll be looking at throwing out 3 sets.  Yikes!

I'm working on a huge genealogy project for my family and I'm generally the first to think of making certain you have extra safe copies.  So, if you give it to LO when she turns 18 and she might not appreciate it and lose it along the way of life, I'd get an extra copy.  If you're going to wait until she's 30, you're probably good with one :-)

  • You can always order it later - that is the great thing about digital. I make books for DS on Shutterfly, and it keeps my projects in case I want to re-order. I'm assuming Kodak is the same. DS has already ripped several pages of my book about my dog so I will probably reorder at some point.

And I realize you wrote this last night, so I'm probably too late. ;)
