Best Newborn Carrier

Please rec yours!!

I'm def planning on wearing LO #2 for several months and need something that is simple to use and easy on the back.  With DS I had a peanut shell sling and a hotsling and hated them both, so did DS.  Any suggestions?  I have to admit I'm a little intimidated by the Moby- it looks complicated and just like a large swath of fabric.  Any others?  I've heard about the Ergo, Babyhawk, Mei Tai, Lillebaby...

TIA!

Re: Best Newborn Carrier

  • We're getting a Beco Butterfly!  I love it because it has a great infant insert so supports small babies pretty well.  Besides, it can be worn front or back AND only one person is needed to get the baby in and on.  (You can put the baby in the carry in first and then put the carrier on like a backpack once old enough to ride that way.)

  • we bought the ergo (and the infant insert) but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I've heard nothing but good things about it though.

I was also considering the moby but decided 1 carrier was enough.

  • The Moby is really easy to use and DS and I love it.  When he gets bigger I'm planning to switch to an Ergo or Beco.

  • I say Moby & Ergo.  Moby was intimidating to me initially, but I went to a demo w/ a Moby rep showing how to do it & it's super easy.  Just watch youtube videos to see how.  DD also loves the Ergo w/ infant insert & it'll last til 40 lbs.  I couldn't live w/o either one.

  • I got a sleepy wrap for when the baby is newborn.  We also got an ergo.  If you are looking for a carrier (rather than a wrap), here is a good comparison chart:

another chart that has more, but I don;t think is quite a useful:

  • I would LOVE to hear from anyone who's actually had a Baby K'tan. That's the one we're thinking about going with. It seems like the best of both worlds, between the wrap style and the sling style.
