I didn't get my full results at the NT scan bc Quest lost my bloodwork. My doc told me the results today. For a woman my age, the expected odds are 1:420. My results came back 1:350. So he's not recommending CVS or amino, but merely an additional bloodwork called the integrated screen.
Didn't prepare myself for any other results but "normal". Talk me down. TIA
Re: Talk to me about your 2nd tri/integrated screen
I did the full integrated screening, which consisted of a blood test and NT scan in the 1st trimester, and a second blood test in the 2nd trimester. I don't remember my exact numbers from the NT scan, but I know I was low enough to not need the CVS or amnio. The 2nd tri blood test is pretty standard, and will give them a better picture of what (if anything) they're looking at.
Here's hoping everything looks good after your second blood test. I think if things looked grim they probably would have talked to you today about scheduling the CVS or the amnio.

My DH wasn't at today's appt, but when I told him on the phone, he didn't understand why the 2nd bloodwork was even necessary. He says 1:350 odds are still good odds.
I haven't gotten my results yet, but I did speak to a counselor at my screening appointment. She went over the test and possible results, and did prepare me that a lot of people are recommended to get further testing. She said that even if they recommend it, chances are the baby will be perfect. Even people that get "bad" results often have perfectly healthy babies.
I'd say your odds are pretty good. Stressing won't help anything. Just stay positive and hope for the best!!
Good luck
From 1:420 to 1:350 isn't bad. I would wait until you get that bloodwork to really assess things. The bloodwork may kick your risk factor back to a more comfortable number. Also, know that the anatomy scan may be very helpful to you when it is time for that.
We had a 1:160 risk for an NTD. After our level-2 u/s that changed to 1:1600.
I am sorry that you didn't get the result you expected. It is very tough news to hear and process, but do know that the odds are HUGELY in your favor. 1 in 350 is still a great number! If you just cannot handle this news after you've had a chance to process and get the bloodwork back, ask to speak to a genetic counselor. She can help you weight the costs and benefits of any further steps.
