Hospital Tour Questions?

Can anyone link me to a list of good questions to ask during my hospital tour? Which I am leaving for in like 1/2 an hour?

Re: Hospital Tour Questions?

  • The only thing I asked was about how accommodating the nurses are if you'd like to send the baby to the nursery for a few hours to get some rest and have him brought back when he's hungry.  Apparently I've already won "Worst Mother of the Year Award" for asking that because you could almost hear the silent, collective gasp of everyone else on our tour.

Any other questions I might have had were answered during the tour.

  • If I were on your tour I would have given you a HUG. Seriously, the first time I learned what "rooming-in" was, I was appalled.

I was like, "You want me to do the hardest, most painful, most demanding, most physically and emotionally challenging work of my life, and then take care of a brand-new baby for the first time EVER without getting any rest? Take the kid for a couple hours. I'll take over after that."

  • Everything I could have asked was already answered in the tour. You could ask about visiting hours, how many people allowed in the room, things like that.

     HAHAHA! I'm sorry. How awkward!

Although I'm opting for baby to stay with me as much as possible, I understand it's a personal choice and not something a bunch of strangers should judge you about. How lame.

Anyway, my hospital tour is in 4 hours. I have no idea what to ask, but I [and you, OP] could always call them back afterwards, because really, you probably won't think of it until after you leave.

  • My biggest concerns were how to check in....everything else took care of itself ;)

We asked this too. I also asked if they could just keep her all night. I got a lot of side eyes... I'd like to take advantage of the help at the hospital.. After I get home, it's all on me.

  • I asked if the hospital has wireless internet because DH is deployed and my family's all out of state. Go figure a military hospital doesn't have wi-fi!

They had an anesthesiologist jump in on the tour and he got most of the questions. People were asking what types of pain med options were available besides epis, what's available for after c-sections, etc.

Otherwise, they answered a lot of my questions before I could ask.
