Last night my MIL was telling her typical L&D horror stories (she had four children) and she told me that her youngest was delivered at 11lbs and 26 inches long. HOLY MOLY, is that even possible? She likes to exaggerate, and I thought it was ridiculous. Also, this monster baby was delivered vaginally. Yikes

An oldie but goodie...
My MIL has been calling me with stories about DH's birth.
I didn't mind much until she went into graphic detail about her episiotomy.
Graphic detail.
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
my MIL is a L&D nurse, I cringe every time she opens her mouth. Don't they realize that their "horror stories" are the last things we want to hear about?!?!
This reminds me of the Cheez-it commercial. Now I can't stop hearing 'LALALALALA can't hear you!!!' (NOT mature) in my head! Thanks Jamie!!
I was 11lbs 7oz and 23 inches long at birth. I wasn't even a GD baby. My brother was 10lbs even and 21 inches long. Both my brother and I were vaginal deliveries.
DH was almost 10lbs and 23 inches long. I'm pretty much gearing up for a huge baby.
I was 11 lbs, 3 1/2 oz... While I'm not sure about my length, I can say that my mom had me naturally, vaginally, and didn't tear.
Oh and she's about 5'4" and pre-pregnancy probably weighed 105-110.
Maybe it will be a relief to know that it was less common to induce labor back when many of us were probably born, so though these stories could be true, it's probably less likely for babies to be that large now. My husband was between 9 and 10 pounds, but his mom was pregnant for 10 months. These days most induce, at what - 42 weeks. Still though, I thought babies only got so long and then the rest of the growth was just fat storage... Who knows?
