Changing table question

We just received our Graco Lauren changing table. It is really nice, we like it a lot. However, it says to screw down the changing pad. We are pretty clueless about baby stuff so we are kind of confused about how this would work. First, the changing pad can't slip off the table because of the four sides. Also, how would we put the cover on and off and clean the pad? Is it necessary to screw down the changing pad? Or are we missing something...

 TIA!

Re: Changing table question

  • Hmm... Ours is just on top of a dresser, so the straps are screwed into the back of it, but only on the one side. Did it come with it's own pad or did you have to buy that separately?

It came with a craptastic pad so we bought a contoured one. Maybe we are reading it wrong and the straps are supposed to be screwed in. The holes are right in the middle of the top of the changing station though.

  • The directions on the pad I got indicated to screw down the STRAP, not the pad...but as our changing table has 4 raised sides I don't think it's necessary.  If you had a changing table with no sides it would just be extra precaution to keep the pad more secure on the table.

This is good to know! We have the Lauren, too, and another changing pad. I wouldn't screw down the pad since the sides have "rails" - but maybe just the straps.

Can you find anything about it online? If not, I would call Graco (or email them) and ask. They got back to me really quickly when I emailed with a question about a dresser last month!

I think we are reading it wrong and it's the straps that get screwed down but we'd have to make new holes that match with the changing pad we got so we are just going to rely on the four rails. I can't imagine it really needed to be screwed to the table. It is very safe as is.

  • We also have a Graco that is very similar to yours, just not the lauren style, I can't remember the name. Anyways, no you don't have to screw it on. We didn't because like you said there are four sides and she can't fall off especially since you shouldn't ever leave a LO unattended on any changing table no matter what. I also added another pad on top  the one that the changing table came with the kind of pad that also has all four sides and it looks much better and also nestles baby more.
