DD is slowly starting to pull up... it's terrifying because she keeps on falling over. Should I catch her everytime I am able to? I don't want her to fall when she's even taller and not be able to catch herself. Babies should come with helmets. Currently we have her playing on our old memory foam mattress topper.
Re: Baby catching question
This is one of the reasons we actually use our pack and play. We have hardwood floors and our home isn't that baby/safe friendly. If I can't be with DS playing and exploring I put him in the pack and play so he can pull himself up and surface walk in there.
She will learn to catch herself. At 11 months my DS sits down a lot when he loses his balance - he used to just tip over.
PS. When I read your subject I thought it was in reference to labor and delivering the baby.
Me, too!
I put down foam squares (picture at the bottom: https://embrita.blogspot.com/2010/08/ordinary-day.html and they're in the kitchen, too, which is amazing for our knees) and then I just am aware of where he is and what he might fall on. Then if he tumbles I protect his head and comfort him. 90% of the time he's just scared himself, and there has never been any serious injury. I feel that if I hover too much, he'll never find his balance.
But oy- I'm going grey from this.
HTH!
