I have been holding off on this b/c things have been going so great...didn't think I was going to have to actually pursue this. But, I'm afraid that as much as wish I could say that I can't wait to get to know yall, I am heartbroken I am having to come over here.
Anyway...point is. How soon can I file for cs? Do I have to wait till she's born before I file? What can I have ready so I don't have to do much when she's born? I live in TX if that helps at all.
Re: Question about child support
In PA I couldn't file until my son was born. I had to have his social security card and birth certificate. Besides that I had to give them my ex's name, address, social security number and work info.
For the actual conference I have to take 6 months of paystubs, W-2s, and last year's taxes.
Good luck with everything.
"There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. So love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."
This, exactly. And I live in AL. Plus, when you deliver, if your ex is at the birth and signs acknowledgment of paternity then it'll be easier to file the c/s motion. If he is not there or refuses to acknowledge paternity, a paternity test must be ordered and paternity must be established before any motions to file for child support.
here in MN you can file whenever but for any with-holdings/payments, you would have to wait until lo is born.
it's not your responsibility to provide his information. they will send paperwork to DB and he has to fill out his information, and if he fails to turn it in by the date requested, he's screwed.

Once again, advice from a 19 year old who has never been a single parent.
This is not true in every state. I was able to get a divorce while pregnant. I didn't include my baby in the custody agreement or the child support, however. I have to take my ex back to court now, so in hindsight it might have been easier to wait.
Most states will not allow you to file for CS until a child is born. They want to be sure the child is born healthy, and in some cases, have a DNA test. In the mean time, if you can get copies of all financial and property records, do it and keep them in a safe place. You will need this later, so get it while you have access to it.
This. Exactly. However, custody has to be determined after LO is born, as well as CS.
I'm in the same boat as you seems like. I keep holding things off in hopes that it will get better but it's becoming very obvious that im going to be joining this group as well!! GL to you!
