3rd Trimester

Braxton Hicks and Cramping

Anyone else experience pretty intense cramping with Braxton Hicks around 34-36 weeks?  I talked about it with my Dr. at 34 week appt and she checked to make sure I was dilated yet.  All was fine, but now its just getting a little more frequent especially at night. (Not frequent enough to time them though)  I go back in tomorrow, but just curious if anyone else felt that this early on.

Re: Braxton Hicks and Cramping

  • I think that's about when mine kicked in.

Are you drinking enough water? When I'm dehydrated (or if I don't get at least 64 oz water daily) mine are WAY worse.

  • I dealt with these at about 35+ weeks. They can be dilating your cervix slowly. My MW said this was completely normal and would make labor easier when active labor came on.

  • I'm 30 weeks and these started about a week and  a half ago.  Ive been in L&D once already because they were so painful and pretty consistant. I do notice that if I am dehydrated they do seem to be worse...so I try to drink more everyday and when they start try laying on my left side to get them to stop....
  • I've been experiencing intense cramping as well with the braxton hicks and I just made 37 weeks...it's weird because they get pretty intense late night although yesterday morning at work I was in serious pain and I feel alot of pressure on my pelvis. At my last doc visit I was 1 centimeter. My doctor suggested to drink lots of water and elevate my feet a couple of weeks ago when I first started feeling the cramping.

  • Thanks everyone!  I will try more water...not sure how much more I can handle at night, but I guess I will be up to the bathroom either way :)
