They are different, make sure you get red raspberry leaf tea.

It aids in toning the uterus, which theoretically makes labor easier.

Different. Red raspberry tea is tea made from tea leaves with the flavor of the berries and won't do anything for you. Red Raspberry leaf tea is tea made from the leaves of the raspberry plant.

my doctor said it is not scientifically proven.. but it can help "induce" labor if the baby is ready... just giving it a try..i'm sick of being pregnant
They are definitely different as PP mentioned. I had to find a specialty tea shop to buy some. My MW told me to start drinking it at 30 weeks and to drink 3-4 cups per day, more if I want to. She said it was for 'toning the uterus' for labour, but it doesn't help with induction. I think it just helps your uterus contract more efficiently in labour.
The taste isn't too bad, it reminds me a lot of chamomile. I steep 1 tablespoon per cup of water for 10 minutes, sometimes I just leave the bag in and it steeps much longer. It also doesn't taste too bad if you chill it for an unsweetened 'ice tea'.
To help start the cervix to soften my MW says to use evening primrose oil capsules. You prick them, then shove them up your vaj as high as you can (so they are next to your cervix). Best to look this up before trying though, or ask your doctor.

It does not induce anything! All it does is tone and strengthen the uterine muscles to help contractions be more efficient when you DO go into labor. Yikes! I've been drinking it since third trimester started and I have definitely not induced anything!
OK, this is good for me to hear...I've been given a box and have been staying away from drinking it b/c while I'm sick of being pregnant, I am NOT ready for LO to be here yet and had heard the inducing thing too! Maybe I'll start having a cup a day, since efficient contractions sound good!
