3rd Trimester

Back Pain ......

My lower back feels like it's going to break at any moment. I know it is normal to have back pain during pregnancy. I just wanted to know if their was anything you ladies did or took , that made the pain tolerable. I tried taking some Tylenol like my doctor suggested, but that didn't help at all. Any advice or ideas would be helpful .

Re: Back Pain ......

  • Baths, heating pads, and Tylenol. Those are the only things that I've found that I can do. It comes and goes, make sure to keep good posture while sitting (don't slouch or stick your belly out too far)

and on that note: I feel your pain, I compared myself to a pan of jiffy pop yesterday. My abs hurt from the stretching, and my back hurts too :(

I am going to have DH buy heating pad on the way home. It has gotten so bad I can't sleep.

  • that was me last night. I ended up taking 2 tylenol and putting a pillow kinda under my back (so that I was on a slant? cant think of the word right now). The pressure from the pillow kinda helped too
  • I am sitting here at work with a pillow and heating pad on my back as we speak.  My lower back has been killing me as well.  I'm about to take some Tylenol too.  That's really all we can do though.  I'm going to see my OB tomorrow for my 32 week check-up, so if I hear of anything else we can do I'll be sure to let you know!

Thanks. I actually go to the doctor today as well. I know he will just tell me to take Tylenol and rest . So , if your doctor has anything more helpful let me know.

  • I had horrible back pain in my 3rd trimester. It was so bad I actually went in to be examined. I was told it was my pelvic bones shifting/stretching and that I could take Tylenol for it. I was also told to move around and keep exercising because it was important to keep that area loose and limber--what I didn't want was for that area to get even more stiff (although all I could stand was a short walk). My H also learned some massage techniques that he did with me. It worked and it eventually went away.
