3rd Trimester

Baby has given me moles :-(

I just noticed the other day how many moles I have on my body. Since I've been pregnant, the the few pre-existing ones have gotten bigger, darker and "more 3-D" as DH put it. I've gotten a whole bunch of new ones, including 2 on my face (they look like pimples that won't heal). I've also gotten a few skin tags and a slew of broken capillaries on my face, neck, chest and arms/hands.

I'm wondering if any of that will go away or at least fade after the baby or if I'm stuck with them forever (or at least until I get them taken off if I can even do it).

Has anybody else had this going on?

  • It's supposed to go away, I'm praying it goes away! I hate skin tags and I feel like my mom! If not, I'm getting this junk taken off!

What I'm wondering about is my face... Any acne I've gotten seems to be leaving marks, I don't know if that goes away!?!?

  • I've gotten a LOT of skin tags over the last few months (mostly between my boobs and on the back of my neck) and I have one mole in the middle of my forehead.  It makes me look like a cyclops and I don't even have bangs to cover it.  I was seriously considering breaking out my Hello Kitty band aids and saying the cat ran across my face when I was sleeping.

I'm really hoping it all goes away.

  • Yep, I have a bunch of really small ones above my cheeks. I don't really mind them; they look like freckles. :)

  • I got a few when I was pregnant with DS and they did not go away, unfortunately. One grew so big while I was pregnant that I had to have it removed. It was on my chest. I have noticed a new one has come up under my arm and one that I got with DS has grown now with this pregnancy. Ugh. I asked my OB about it last week and she said I can have it removed if I want. I should've asked if it'll ever go away.
  • I'm glad this is normal.  I've also noticed a couple new moles, and of course, my mind jumped to skin cancer first.  It's a bummer that they're going to stick around after we give birth, though.

  • I'm in the same boat: moles & skin tags galore!  I started noticing the skin tags about 4 weeks ago and I had a lot of moles to begin with, but my dermatologist said that my skin would change during pregnancy.  Unfortunately, she never mentioned if the skin tags would ever go away or if my moles would ever shrink back to "normal" size.  I hope, for your sake & mine, that they do!

     *fingers crossed for us*

Me too. And I'm fairly tan, so.. I didn't think I would ever have freckles! hahaha It's hilarious, to me.

Also, that's how I found out I was PG. I got freckles on my face, a little dot on my hairline, and one more at the tip of my pinky, all before I peed on the stick. I kinda like them. I hope they stay.

  • Me too.  They are supposed to go back to normal at some point after birth.

  • Everything that I've read indicates that most of them - especially skin tags - will have to be professionally removed after giving birth.  I've never heard of skin tags just disappearing, unless you accidentally (or I guess intentionally) ripped them off somehow.  I've read that they can grow back with future pregnancies too.

  • yes, i had one on my forehead that I had to have removed because it was getting pretty big.  The dermatologist said it probably started as a skin imperfection and because I was pregnant, my body rushed to supply it with extra blood vessels, so it kept getting bigger.  Pregnant bodies are so weird.
  • I was starting to think I was just noticing my moles more because im so pale compared to every other summer/fall of my life.  haha turns out its just another one of those LOVELY pregnancy presents from God? woo hoo!
  • I've had one mole get a bit darker and funkier looking since pregnancy.  To be safe, I went to the dermatologist yesterday to have it looked at.  She said that most of the time the changes are just due to pregnancy, but she wanted to be safe and removed it.  It was pretty ugly so I'm fine with having a tiny scar instead :-)
