Recommend a sound machine please

My son is having trouble staying asleep in the morning and I think it is because he is hearing my husband getting ready for work. I was thinking to try a sound machine and am looking for a good recommendation on one. I looking for something loud and long lasting. Thank you.

We have the 980 model - I believe it gives you two options - low and high and you can adjust volume within both of those levels. Works great for us!

I have this one and really like it BUT the projector stops working. I am on my second one now and it still lights up, but stops moving. The sounds are good though. Baby prefers ocean and it gets pretty loud if you need it to. It has times settings or you can leave it on all night. We leave it on all night otherwise she wakes up.

We have a radio/CD player in DS's room. When he needs white noise, I turn the radio station to static. When we were visiting my parents recently and needed some white noise, we put an oscillating fan near his crib.

FWIW, we have the ever-popular "baby crack machine" (Homedics Soundspa Lullaby) and it does NOTHING for DS. He much prefers either the static sound or the fan.

We don't use a "sound machine" per say, but we do run an air purifier in DS's room. So while it makes a loud, white noise it is also actually providing a benefit by purifiying the air. Love it.

We also used "static" as white noise, but would sometimes pick up some random station in the middle of the night. We finally put an old ipod in her room on a docking station and downloded ocean sounds. Works great.

I registered for the Sleep Sheep from BRU. Can't comment on its effectiveness yet, but it is cute!

I have the graco sweet slumber sound machine. I like it because it also has an mp3 plug in.

We also have the Graco Sweet Slumber purchased in a pinch when our homedics version stopped working. I really like the night light feature, if you press on the top it makes the light brighter or you can turn it off for a softer light. I like the option.

The most important feature when I was shopping..was a machine that would run all night. One option I purchased and returned had a timer that maxed out at an hour.

Second vote for the Marpac Sleep Mate! We have one in our own room and love it! It is mechanical rather than digital sound so there is now "end of loop" to wake the baby (or us) up.
