Trying to Get Pregnant

Eating subject...

since all of us are in the same TTC boat, are you girls watching what you eat right now?...are you following a specific TTC diet, or even a first trimester diet to get your body tuned up? Just curious if any of you have gone this far yet....

Re: Eating subject...

  • I probably should be, but I'm not. When I was pregnant in March/April (which ended in MC) I know I was already craving some things that I couldn't have. So for now I'm letting myself eat those not-so-healthy things because once I get the BFP I'm going to have to wait 9 more months to have some of my favorite junk food!

  • Well, During my period I ate whatever I wanted! lol.

During my fertile window, I dont drink alcohol, try to minimize coffee etc, my DH also cuts down to 3 beers if he is drinking, and no red bull lol.

2 ww- he drinks whatever, and I continue no alcohol etc.

We eat fairly healthy other than coffee and alcohol. :)

  • Not super duper.  I am trying to eat a lil healthier and during the 2ww I avoid somewhat some of the not good for you foods (not entirely).  Don't want to get myself worked up for BFN.

Also, I love your pic - I had a German Shepherd growing up - what great dogs.

Thanks! She is like our kid...and super smart! WOW!!!

I'm trying to eat better all around. Cut out pop altogether, trying to eat more fruits and veggies, better complete meals....stuff like that. I'm thinking of buying a pregnancy diet book to see what I should really be eating.

  • I just started WW a week or 2 ago. I am trying to lose a few lbs. before getting KU so when I start gaining weight I can gain 20-30 lbs. and not suffer. I am pretty petite so any added weight on me sucks! I also just needed to lose a few pounds = )

  • yes, I do watch what I eat. I think TTC is great motivation to get in better shape. I'm trying to eat more veggies, I cut out pop completely, and I'm trying to reduce the amount of sugar in my diet and reducing processed foods. These things are beneficial whether I'm KU or not.
  • I'm very careful with processed foods, anything with an ingredient explanation that is a paragraph. Just trying to eat a lot of vegetables.

The other thing is I figured if I'm going on a decaffienated sobriety marathon for 9 months, I'd better start easing into that. So, less caffeine and less wine. (Believe me, it's still present in my intake, just less). It's not that hard so far, surprisingly.

I would love to lose a few lbs too. I'm struggling with that part.

  • I'm not doing anything special right now. Although, I don't drink soda, coffee or have any alcohol. I'd probably drink more coffee if I didn't break my coffee maker lol
  • Since starting to take metformin and actos, I have just been eating a lot more veggies/fruits and I've switched to whole grain. I try to cut out greasy/fatty foods, because they make me sick. Other than that, I am just trying to eat better overall.

  • I try to eat healthy. I've cut out caffine and cut down on alcohol (just a glass of wine hear and there). I also try to eat fish more. But other than that, it's pretty much the same.

I also went back on WW. (I was on it about a year ago and loved it, but then fell off of the wagon :)) I want to get my weight in check and make sure i'm eating healthy not just for ttc, but for healthiness! :) I also have PCOS, and weight gain can affect hormones negatively.

    GL TTC!

I lost like 15 lbs. before my wedding and would LOVE to lose it again! I am trying to be really good now! WW is the greatest thing b/c it isn't a diet it is a lifestyle change. GL to  your healthy eating and GL to you TTGP too = )

  • TTC has been motivation for me to try to change my lifestyle and my attitude towards food.  I already ate a lot of whole grains, but I've been cutting down on some other things that aren't good for me because I want to teach my future children healthy eating habits.  I've cut back on soda, alcohol and processed foods, and I've been eating more whole foods in general (more fruits and veggies).

So as much as these things are good for me during pregnancy, it is just as much about making permanent changes for me.  I don't plan on completely avoiding anything other than alcohol during pregnancy, it will be about having things I want in moderation while sticking to a healthy "big picture."
