3rd Trimester

Really REALLY freaked out by my...

...feet. At least I think that's what these are. They look like swollen hams left out in the sun for a week.

I know some foot swelling is normal but this kind of happened overnight, and trust me when I say they are about three times their normal size.

Should I be freaked out? Could this be a sign of pre-eclampsia? My blood pressure is elevated but not high, and my feet and calves are doing most of the swelling, not my face.

Looks like I'll be going to get this checked out tomorrow morning. Nice how this stuff happens at night when I can't just stop at the doc!

Re: Really REALLY freaked out by my...

  • I have had swollen feet for about 6 weeks now. It's actualy very normal but always good to let the doc know whats going on. Infact the swelling has gotten so bad my shoes that were a size too large that I bought 2 months ago now bruise my feet. I hardly ever leave my slippers now.

  • LOL my flip flops have started leaving marks after I've worn them for a while.

  • My feet are pretty swollen too, and my flip flops (which are a size and a half bigger than my normal size) are leaving indentations on the tops of my feet.  But, if they are REALLY three times bigger, then I would call the doctor... that sounds pretty excessive to me... and better safe than sorry.
  • Oh yes.  My feet have gone beyond "Hobbit" and are entering the realm of "Cabbage Patch Kid"

My doc said that it's normal and not to freak out about pre-e unless the swelling is in your face and hands and is accompanied by headaches and pains in the chest.
