Pregnant after IF

How to handle Bloat

I need some advice from the experts please :)  How did you ladies work around bloat and work clothes?   I have only gained 1 pound but look like I have been hitting the beer and pizza a bit (ok, more like super) hard. I am only 9 weeks but not fitting into any of my prepregnancy work pants thanks to bloating.  I am barely 5 feet  (size 4) with a super short torso, so I guess the bloat doesn't have many places to go. Wondering if it worth just buying a size up or a band or any other suggestions that worked for you?

  • You can get a tummy sleeve from Motherhood or a BeBand from Target. It will help keep your pants up while unzipped.

You could also loop a rubber band through the button hole and hook it to your button.

  • I got my Bella Band last week because my work pants weren't fitting too well...and I love it so far! Good luck!

I did both of these at first, but really found that uncomfortable soon.  I had some pants that were a size up (from when I lost a bunch of weight) that I dug out and started wearing.  That felt a lot better.  I am still mainly using those pants plus one pair of maternity jeans I bought at 9 weeks because denim was just not comfortable in whatever size I had.  I had gained 3 lbs but looked like I had gained 15.  I hope your bloat goes down soon and gets replaced with a cute baby bump!

  • I used a beband from target for a little while....although i thought it was more annoying than anything...i was in maternity pants by 12 weeks though just cause it was more comfortable....and i thought i was huge...lol now i look at myself and can't believe i thought i had a belly at that point ;)

  • I just suffered through it and wore bigger shirts (that I bought just because I was so bloated). In hindsight I probably should have bought a bella band (like $17 from Target) and used that.

Maternity pants probably won't fit you at this point, so it's your best option for bottoms. For tops, I'd go ahead and buy a few cheap things (I got shirts from Forever 21 and Ann Taylor Loft) in a size bigger than you normally wear so you can be comfortable until you pop.
