EC Questions

Hello ladies, popping over to ask you a few questions. I checked out some threads below but if you would be willing to answer these few questions that would be great.

When did you start?

are you doing pees and poops?

Do you sign as well?

Do you do it at specific times?

I think I'm going to start DD today after we go pick up her potty so I'm just curious what others do.

we use the sign for toilet, as well as all done

  • When did you start?

    3 weeks

are you doing pees and poops?

I'll take what I can get Stick out tongue I'm still learning to remember to pick up on the cues he offers. Sometimes I'll be cuddling him asking "why are you grizzling" and I'll hear a poo... D'oh!

    Do you sign as well?

Not yet but we will when he is older

Do you do it at specific times?

After naps, if nothing then either mid feed or after feed, whenever he cues. He cues by grizzling which I miss sometimes, but we're taking a fairly relaxed approach. I don't get him up mid nap to wee, at this stage it's more important he gets all the rest he needs. Though now he doesn't poo mid nap or overnight, he waits until he is awake so we're probably catching 80% at the moment which is awesome.

Best of luck. Remember to stay relaxed and don't worry if you miss some really obvious cues, it starts to sink in over time!

Do you sign as well?yes. but I'm studying for fluency/interpreting, so we sign a lot.

Do you do it at specific times? upon waking, 5 or so minutes after eating, and anytime it's been a while.

  • I won't lurk :-)  I haven't done it so I enjoyed reading the responses.  I just don't know how to go about it.  I wish I knew someone in real life that did it.  I'd invite them for coffee and pick their brain!

Hats off to you ladies.  I'm a little envious!

are you doing pees and poops? Whatever we can get!  DD hasn't pooped in a diaper in over two weeks and that one was just because we were out for too long and I didn't get her home in time.  We are working on pottying in public restrooms, but right now she just likes her little potty at home.

Do you sign as well? Try to, but I often forget.

Do you do it at specific times? Before and after nap, after eating, if it's been an hour or so, and anytime her diaper is wet (so that she associates wet diaper with potty and getting a fresh one).

Just another suggestion--we use prefolds w/o covers during the day so that I know the moment she wets and can change her.  I feel (and I could be completely wrong in this) that we often train our kids to not mind a wet diaper.  I want DD to understand that dry is more comfortable than wet.  Also, DD doesn't signal when she needs to go.  I just try to give her lots of pottytunities and she seems to understand.
