I was just called by the peds office (10 minutes before I left my office in Lewiston) that Claire cannot have her 1 year appointment today as she isn't 1 yet. No apology, no reason other than she isn't a year (found out from a co-worker that there is a law(?) that they have to be 1 to get certain shots.) I'm furious. Not that someone made an initial mistake but that I've been in the office or had contact with them 3 times in the last two weeks, including an appointment confirmation on Friday, and no one caught on to the mistake. AND, they didn't even apologize which made me even more mad.
She's also having ear infection issues and they wanted to push the appointment to Oct. 14th. We finally "settled" on October 4th. I understand the nature of the beast being she sees many different doctors for sick appointments but this will be the 4th different doctor regarding her ears and they all give different advice!
Can anyone recommend a good office (not Williamsville Peds) around the WIlliamsville, Lancaster, Cheektowaga, etc. area? I'm almost ready to switch based on lots of reasons but this may as well be the last straw.
Thanks!
Re: Pedi Recommendation?
dr pwiko is who sophie saw when she was first born
m/c 1/2/08 and 3/12/08
Eve Amelia- Born 2/24/09. 6lb 9.9oz
Natalie Ruth - Born 6/13/11 7lb 6.6oz
Thank you for your recommendations.
I got a call from someone on the office staff to apologize and then from the Dr. who apologized and then explained why they need to do that. She also made sure she could get Claire in next Monday evening. Jury is still out and we are starting to explore other options so I appreciate having a starting point based on these recommendations.
We go to Genesee-Transit Peds and they're really great.
Like today we called because Sophie has had a fever all weekend and left a message for the nurse and within 10 minutes they called back with an appt available within the hour.
All the dr's are great and they have evening and Saturday hours too.
I don't know about the law and the shot thing. But I do know that some insurances will not pay for the 1 yr appt until they are 1 yrs old or older. No younger.
That sucks though, sorry
