Argh, help ladies!!
I have been having yeast infections nearly every month. So aggravating! My OB/GYN has given me Difflucan, which works to relieve the symptoms...but then it seems to come back the next month after my period ends.
My urine test today showed that my PH level was low. So he recommended adding Vitamin C to help prevent the YIs. (like a cup of juice every day) Now, I'm already taking a prenatal and cranberry pills, both of which have added Vitamic C. I also eat a very balanced, healthy diet.
I can't see how adding in one glass of juice is going to help that much in preventing these infections (to be fair, he also recommended treating MH, to be sure we weren't passing it back and forth). I am wanting to try a probiotic as a better preventative measure- specifically Ultimate Flora Vaginal Health. Doc says that he doesn't recommend it.
Anyone have experience with this situation???
Re: Yeast infections and probiotics? (long)
I don't know...I think doctors tend to dislike things that aren't FDA approved, that you can get over the counter.
ah...I know how you feel. When I lived in Hawaii I had YI every month too. It was horrible. I think it had something to do with the weather or something in the environment.
Once my doctor prescribed me a double dose of Difflucan and told me to take these: https://www.amazon.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Acidophilus-Pearls-capsules/dp/B00012NHUM
I never had one again. But we also did move, so hard to say if it was the move out of that climate, or the meds and probiotics.
Good luck to you, I know how frustrated you probably are!
I JUST had the worst yeast infection. Sooo annoying.
How about eating yogurt every day? When I used to eat yogurt every day, I never got a YI. It has the live bacteria that helps balance the " vaginal environment."
This!!
