Trying to Get Pregnant

Re: Yams & Twins

  • I saw that someone posted that they stopped eating sweet potatoes while ttc so that they wouldn't have twins. I love sweet potatoes. I'd be thrilled with twins. Bring it!

    THIS Yes

  • I've heard this as well. Is it just yams, or sweet potatoes too? We can't find yams in our area, and I don't think they are exactly the same thing..?

  • Yeah, pretty sure a small farm community in Africa that probably relies on the yam as their primary food source, is the worst study group possible.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

I actually know someone who was successful with this. She swears by it. Her husband only wanted two children and she really wanted three....so when they started TTC their second child she read that yams can lead to twins. She at yams- one a day and concieved twin girls. No twins run in their families. She swears by the yams!

I thought it was crazy so I came home and googled it...sure enough there seems to be some evidence that supports it.

  • I've read this before or a similar article, back when I thought getting pregnant was quick and easy LOL.  I have always said I would love to have twins so out of curiousty I googled "natural fertility" as I knew those who take fertility drugs have a way higher chance of having twins.  I was excited because I love love yams anyway and thought "hey, can't hurt".
  • Both MH and I would love twins! I'm going to pick up some yams tomorrow... One a day! LOL thankfully I like yams anyways so wont be an issue for me.
