Trying to Get Pregnant

? about possible cysts ?

Hi ladies! This is my first post...I have been lurking for a few months now... and I can say I have learned ALOT!! So thank you!! My husband and I are officially trying to conceive as of this month. Today was CD 25, and I am not sure when I O'd being that I didn't chart this month. My cycle is usually around 29 days. Right now I have all of my typical menstrual symptoms, so I am not too hopeful this month.

I do have a question that I havn't been able to find the answer to yet, so I thought you ladies could help me out. For the past week or so, I have noticed that occasionally when I sneeze, I feel a sharp, shooting pain in my pelvis. Sometimes I feel it on the left side, and sometimes on the right. It goes away almost immediately. I have heard that these are just ovarian follicles or cysts that rupture under the pressure of the sneeze or cough or whatever, and that they are normal. But, I am wondering if this means I did not ovulate, or that I may have multiple cysts on my ovaries that could lower my chances of conceiving.

So, long story short, have any of you ladies experienced this before? If so, is it normal, and have you spoke with the doc about it?

**TIA**

  • I have ovarian cysts and when they rupture the pain is excruciating. If it went away pretty quickly then I wouldn't say that they ruptured but maybe you do have some follicles or cysts that you are feeling when you sneeze. If the pain gets worse or more frequent I would say call your doctor. My doc told me that I have multi-follicular ovaries and that it why I get cysts but that I am ovulating regularly. It is not the same for every woman. If you're really concerned I would call the doc.

  • I agree with PP, when I have a cyst rupture the pain is terrible, it used to happen every month but now every other month (thank goodness) I spoke with my dr he said it wasn't anything to worry about...but plz talk with your dr.
  • I will also agree that when I had a cyst rupture it was awful pain that lasted for a long time.

Possibly the pain could be from large follicles, but probably not from them bursting. I get something similar sometimes around when I O, and that's what I've always assumed it was.

    Welcome and GL!

  • I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and it was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.  The pain hit me early one morning (the moment it ruptured) and I was rolling around on the bed screaming for my husband to call my mom.  I ended up in the ER because the pain was so bad.  If it was a ruptured cyst you would know!!!!!!!!!
  • Thank you for all of your responses! I am so sorry you guys have had to go through all that pain. I now know I definitely havn't been rupturing any cysts. I am probably just feeling those follicles. Thanks again, and good luck to all of you! Big Smile
