just got my membranes stripped today during my internal (60%, 1.5 and -2) - was curious if anyone else has gotten theirs done, had it before and was it successful with inducing labor???
i had mine done last week. am about the same as you...1.5 and 50%. didn't feel a thing. and nothing much happened. go to the doc tomorrow and plan to ask for them to make it count this time! i have heard that for some people it works like a charm...and for others...well...babies come when they're ready i guess...
I got mine stripped last Friday at 60% and 2 cm, and yesterday morning when I had steady (but not intense enough) contractions, I was at 80% and 2 cm. At this time, I am still having contractions, but not intense enough to cause me to dilate anymore, and am extremely cranky about the whole thing because I am so ready to be done with this already and they wont admit me in until I am at least 4-5 cm. Grrrrrr.
Okay, sorry done venting.

Had mine done 2 or 3 times (i can't remember) and I was 2cm, 50% & a -1 station at the time, but it did nothing! The last time I had it done, I was 3cm 75% and 0 station. I walked afterwards and had cramps/contractions for a few hours, but again, it did nothing to my cervix. I did quite a few things trying to jumpstart labor and nothing worked. She finally came a week later though !!!
I've been walking around for two weeks with no progress- very uncomfortable and in a ton of pain so doc said that she was going to strip my membranes today to see if it would help speed things up- she said if my body wasn't ready then it really wouldn't do anything- otherwise she was hoping that it would release more prostaglandins and help make my contractions work better.

um yea, this! i've been having steady contractions for almost two weeks but am not quite full term yet. doesn't matter though. my doc will not do anything to help labor (unless a concern comes up like bp or something) until i'm at my due date or beyond.

I got mine stripped with DS1, lost my mucus plug that night, and then was induced two days later. I don't know if I would have gone into labor on my own or not!
I had mine stripped at 1 cm and 70% effaced and started contractions the next morning. I was overdue though... stripping membranes definitely helps, but if your body doesn't want to have the baby yet, it won't.
