Mine has been aweful and started around week 30. Leaving my job definitely helped a ton but it still hurts if I walk around a lot. Stretching and exercise haven't helped at all.
With DS I had it through my whole pregnancy. I tried massage and it didn't work.
This time, I had it briefly in second tri, but I went for an adjustment at the chiro and I started prenatal yoga around the same time and I haven't had any issues since
Massage works for some people- I'd give massage/chiro/yoga a shot before resigning to be incapacitated til Jan...
Mine was horrible during the 5th month but got better thereafter. I still had random shooting pain that would wake me up screaming in the middle of the night but it wasn't as consistent or debilitating as it had been in the 2nd trimester. Ask your doc about exercises you can do to help baby shift positions. Haven't had it at all this pregnancy.

I went to a chiro Friday and I feel a lot worse, I am not going to go to the adjustment tomorrow, there's not point because I really feel he made it worse. I like chiros too, went to one for years for neck pain. I am going to try physical therapy and see how that works out. I think I am also going to schedule a massage appt, had one a few weeks ago before this started. It is expensive though.

See I'm the complete opposite. Movement like housework or anything "jerky" set it off, but while I'M walking, swimming, anything rythmic is actually the best I feel all day! I keep telling DH it's so unfair because I can keep it in check during the more active parts of my day, but I get so tired and at the end of the day when I just want to relax, it kicks my a$$. I can't sit and relax because sitting on a comfy couch or anything like that just makes LO settle right on my nerve. OWWW!
Walking and going up and down stairs is almost unbearable. Lying on the couch and sitting are comfortable. Sleeping is tough because I can't get comfy

I assume you're using extra pillows or a pregnancy pillow like the Snoogle or whatever it's called to help right?
I just use a few extra pillows, I find that where I need them changes all the time.
Snoogle. I tried an extra one propping up my back (pain is on left and they say to avoid sleeping on the side the pain is one) but poor DH has nowhere to go, I take up the whole bed and then the pillow falls on the floor ...it's a mess. I need a king size bed.
Mine was really bad in the beginning, has eased up as I quit sleeping on my stomach as much, but now I have some other type of pain going on.... and I am 36 weeks.
Just like last time, mine is worst in 3rd tri. 6 more weeks sounds like total torture. I do prenatal yoga, walk, have had prenatal massages. Nothing works. Maybe I should try the chiro though. Like some pps said, it gets much worse as the day goes on. Sometimes at night I need DH to carry things (glass of water, my cell) up the stairs for me cuz the pain makes my legs so weak that I need both arms to help force myself upstairs to bed. Hope you experience some relief soon. I know I don't till baby is OUT!

Mine got better in my third trimester. GL!
The two men in my life. Oh, and I have a husband too...
Praying for this! Thanks
