Trying to Get Pregnant

Intro

Been lurking a bit and figured now was a good a time as any to post.

DH and I are TTC #2. We'd decided at first when DD was between 6 months to a year, but with an upcoming deployment we decided to try a bit sooner.

We've thought about charting and honestly I'm quite clueless. Today AF showed her face, so I'm trying to quickly learn about charting, but any help and tips would be great. TIA! :)

  • Fertility Friend (you can get there by clicking on mine or anyone else's siggy ticker) makes is really easy!  There are tutorials on the site, and there are a range of things you can look out for: temperature, cervical mucus, cervical position.

The easiest way to start is to begin taking your temperature immediately upon waking, preferably at the same time every day and after 3 hours minimum of uninterrupted sleep.

Good luck on TTC #2!  Your little one is so precious :)

Thank you so much for the info! I've been on there and I have been reading over their little online course. Since AF showed her face today, I'd planned on starting my temp every morning tomorrow.

Someone also told me I could check my cervix each day as well or try OPKs.

Which is better in your opinion?

    Thank you again! :)

I'm on there now and having issues logging in. I'm hoping to start a new chart...online seems so much easier than printing one and marking on it each day. Lord knows I would lose it somewhere, lol.

I have been doing a combination of temp, cervical mucus, and OPKs.  I don't check my cervical position because, honestly, I can't reach it.  I have really small hands.  haha.

The temps made me feel a lot better because they assured me that I was actually ovulating and when.

In terms of the cervical mucus, something I had never paid any attention to before, I noticed I actually got some that resembled egg white.  Once I saw that change in my CM is when I began taking the OPKs.

I got a positive result on my 3rd day of using OPKs.  And my temp confirmed that I ovulated 2 days later.  I really recommend paying attention to these signs because they all connect and confirm where you are in your cycle.  I feel so much more certain and in control now that I am.

  • I think the other ladies have done a great job on filling you in on charting, etc, so I just wanted to say welcome! Best of luck on TTC #2 - I hope your stay here is short but enjoyable!
