Supplies for art table?

I'm trying to figure out what all I should get to go with DS's art table for his birthday next month. We're just getting the cheapo one from Ikea and then I'm going to Modge Podge scrapbooking paper on the tops of table and chairs. Here is what I have so far: finger paint, paint brushes, crayons, markets, extremely blunt plastic scissors that he'll only use with me:), paper, paint rollers, BIL is getting an art smock, play-dough, and cookie cutters. I'm getting him a big divided cubby to keep everything in.

Anything else? Or ideas where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

  • My DD is older, but she also has glue sticks, construction paper, googly eyes, etc.  She also gathers leaves and seed pods outside to add to her "projects."

  • You're a brave one to allow Play Doh indoors! That's always an outdoor only toy when I'm on watch. Paint and crayon is easy enough to wipe / scrub away, but Play Doh?! AHHH! Little bits smashed into everywhere!

Anyway.. You seem to have the basics covered. For painting I'd recommend those painting cups w/ a lid and brush hole in the lid and a brush for each. Like these: la820x_l.jpg from Lakeshore Learning.

Also, what I find fun [for when LO is a bit older] is to use kiddie oil pastels on black paper.
