3rd Trimester

WWYD Little/No Movement All Day

I have already called my dr office and left a message but I think they are about to close, I have felt very little or possible even no movement today, should I be worried?  I was working today and not completely sure if I felt just a little or if I felt nothing, he is usually awake in the mornings and at some point during the day and he has not had that today :(  I have also tried shaking my belly and pushing on it which usually gets him to kick and that got nothing.  If my dr office doesn't call me back what do you think I should do?

Re: WWYD Little/No Movement All Day

  • Do a kick count. You're at the point where movement should be regular. If you don't get 10 movements in an hour, call your offices emergency line.

  • Loading the player...
  • Drink something super sugary like regular sprite or orange juice and lay down for 30 minutes.   Preferably on your left side.

If you don't feel movement after that then either page your doc with an emergency or go to the ER.  Don't feel silly- better safe than sorry!    Best wishes

  • I would go to the hospital.  That's probably what your doctor's office will tell you anyway.
  • Drink something with sugar in it, lay down and do a kick count.

  • Drink a big glass of ice water and lay on your left side. If you don't get more than a couple moves then I would call the L&D desk at your hospital and ask what they think. It never hurts to call and ask, you're not the first person to worry about little movement. I had to go in last Friday for the same thing. Everything was fine, but it was nice to not have to worry about it for the rest of the weekend, YKWIM?

  • i have experienced the same thing. have gone from having a world cup soccer player to suddenly having this quiet, softly moving baby. just when i start to get worried, i'll get some flutters. but if you're worried, there's no harm going to the hospital. they want you to come for these kinds of things!
  • I agree with everyone else. Drink something...I usually do cold OJ that I down as fast as I can and then lay down, preferrably on your left side, and really pay attention to movements. My dr's office says 6 movements in an hour, but if you haven't felt anything within a 1/2 hour, I would call the emergency line at your dr's office and let them know. They will definietly have you come in to be monitored. Good luck!
