From my office window I can see funeral processions weekly. As morbid as that may seem I have often been angered by the lack of respect that is shown to these families by people going about their daily routine. Until today. Our town has been offically humbled by the loss of one of our nation's heroes. I heard the sirens and went onto the little porch outside my office and watched as the motorcycles with HUGE American flags being flown and every branch of law enforcement escorted our fallen hero to this funeral home. I am truly humbled that the daily traffice STOPPED and waited until our hero was safely inside followed by his family. I am truly honored to have witnessed my town showing the respect that this military personnel and his family deserved so that I can sit in my office peacefully and not look out that same window and see tanks and violence. Thank you to anyone who is serving, has served, or plans to serve for yours and your family's sacrafice so that me and my household can be free.
on a hormonal note: of course I bawled at the reverence showed! who wouldn't?!?
Re: Humbling Experience
On a side note... I want to throw things at people who don't pull over for processions!
Have I mentioned I'm emotional today?
My husband is Military. Im glad your town showed the respect that this man and his family deserved. I think alot of people take for granted all our military personnel do to keep us safe and the sacrifices they (and we families) make when we lose them for deployments or worse. its nice to see respect for them.
my husband is also military. thank you for posting this.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
