Super high HCG level .. .first beta done. Now I'm spazzing..

Ok, I know no one uses the word spazzing anymore, but I'm stuck in the 80's... moving on...

I got my first beta reading today, 13,260! What on earth! I know when I ovulated because of OPK/charting and I could be at the maximum of 6 weeks. Isn't that really high?

Can it mean something bad like, something besides a)further along than I thought somehow (magic?) or b)twins...?

TIA.

PS I am going on Weds for more tests, the nurse said it would probably NOT double because it was so high.

There's a huge range- 1,000-56,000 is normal for 6 weeks- you're well within the normal range. Why don't you ask for an ultrasound instead- hcg levels at this point won't tell you as much as an ultrasound.

There is a post similar to this below with a higher number. At 5w6d I measured 5w1d and my betas were over 33,000. I have one healthy baby. Don't worry your number is fine.

Thanks I know super high HCG is correlated with other issues, so while I'm happy it's not super low, I'm still a tad worried about how high it is. They have me scheduled for an US next week so I will know more then I guess!

I just had my first beta done. It came back at 17,190 and my u/s had me measuring at 5 weeks 1 day. I was pretty nervous also because it seemed really high. With my son though, I remember being about 7 weeks and my level was 80,000. They had me come in for an ultrasound ASAP because they suspected multiples. But nope, I just had one very healthy baby! Hoping that is the case this time too!!
